What date you usually taken down your Christmas decorations? Do you believe that Christmas decorations should be taken down on the Epiphany or Three Kings Day which is today(Jan 6)? Yes, today is Epiphany Day. This is the day commemorating the 12 days after Christmas to when the Biblical Magi (Kings from foreign country{East} visited Jesus at Bethlehem) showed up and gave their royal gifts (frankincense, myrrh, and gold) to Jesus. And so counting from December 25 (the birth of Jesus) until the fifth of January is the 12 days after Christmas. Then on the sixth is the celebration commemorating the arrival date of the Three Kings(The Wise Men). The Three Kings by the way were: Kings Caspar, Melchoir, and Balthasar.
And so the Christmas decorations for me as I believed from many beliefs, I stick to the belief that it is on the 5th day of January or before the Epiphany Day. It is believed that you will not take it down before the 5th because that's the days commemorating the Kings were on their way to Jesus birthplace, they got lost without the star lights. It is then a belief that if ever you forgot to take it down on that day, it should have to be hanged until the 4oth day after December 25th. Some will take it down until Ash Wednesday or live it the whole year round. What about you, did you taken down your X'mas decors yet?.. Happy Epiphany or Three Kings Day folks!
